This article introduces the Anglophone audience to the work of filmmaker and documentary filmmaker Olinda Yawar Tupinambá. Among several up-and-coming indigenous Brazilian artists, Yawar emerges as a promising name in the field of filmic arts. Presenting some events of the artist’s trajectory, the text also briefly presents some of her main works. Themes such as prejudice against Brazilian natives, physical and symbolic violence, and cultural erasure are the subjects of her various film productions. By mixing fiction and realistic documentaries, Yawar poetically introduces such themes, inviting viewers to think about the basics of fear of the other, difference, and everything we do not know or do not understand.
