Abstract

The goal of this article is to analyze the causes of conflicts between the state and sports federations in Senegal. Based on a qualitative approach, the results showed a strong interference of public authorities in the sports movement, opposition related to the financing of the latter, as well as issues related to the renewal of the governing bodies of certain associations, the management of national teams, or misunderstandings related to the use of sports infrastructures. On this basis, it appeared, in the light of theories linked to the school of proximity, that networks and consensuses could be found between actors of conflicts, who, a priori, should not have the same representations, beliefs, and knowledge. This, in the final analysis, can have a negative effect on sports action.
