A Body of New Definers
Abstract
This article explores the notion of “a body of new definers” as creative educators/communicators of difference and identity in a multicultural context. With a novel kind of anthropology instilled in Michael Taussig’s notion of “second contact,” the article importantly situates and explores Vietnamese Australian voices as responding to and formulated through the encounters/tensions between the dominant or mainstream Australian communities and their own Vietnamese refugee/migrant community.
